Hands Across America Protest

I have one thing to say to the protesters, "Phooey on you!" All you were doing was getting on tv, nothing substantive. If you want to protest deep water oil drilling, then park your car and throw away the keys. Do not use any oil powered means of transportation, i.e., taxies, buses, trains, airplanes, ships, or subways. Do something meaningful, sacrifice if you feel that strongly about it, otherwise you will appear as what you are, spoiled children who are still living off their parents.

NC Congressman Attacks First Amendment

Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-NC) recently was approached by citizens on a street in Washington, DC, was asked a polite question, and promptly attacked the student reporter who asked the question. Have these Congressmen all forgotten that they work for the citizens of the United States? Why wasn't the Congressman arrested for assault, you or I would have been. Or if the student had assaulted the Congressman, he would have been put under the jail. It is time to remind the members of Congress that they are paid employees and they need to be reminded by being fired. This was not only a personal attack, it was symptomatic of the governments' disdain for the Constitutional Rights enumerated more than 200 years ago. The Constitution and Bill of Rights were drafted and ratified to acknowledge individual rights and to restrain the government from trying to deny those rights. Not only North Carolina, but all states need to take a long, hard look at their representatives and remove the problems from positions of power.

Deep Water Horizon Disaster Opportunists

“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,” the words of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. It is the time worn and effective method used by politicians to distract people's attention away from what politicians are doing. The Deep Water Horizon disaster could not have been scripted any better for this particular regime. Remember, this is a very effective political machine. Just because what they are doing does not make sense to us, does not mean that they are not on track with their agenda, big government and the population's dependence on it. So, knowing this regime, the Deep Water Horizon's explosion and subsequent oil spill is playing into their plan perfectly. First, the Obama regime is completely opposed to the private sector of the economy and will do anything possible to discredit and destroy the private sector. Energy is a huge part of the economy and provides a good living for a huge section of the hated middle classes. By using this as evidence he put into place a moratorium on offshore oil drilling, even after his regime gave the Deep Water Horizon an award for safety. (Amazing what $1 million in campaign donations can get you.) This effectively puts these men and women out of work indefinitely. Early in the disaster Gov. Jindal requested permission from the federal government to build artificial sand bars to protect Louisiana's coasts from the approaching oil , but was ignored by the federal bureaucracy. In hindsight Gov Jindal should have invoked the 10th Amendment and proceeded without the federal government's permission. The problem was EPA regulations which are so convoluted as to be a major hindrance to responding to such disasters. (Governors need to take note, when struck by disaster, do what you have to and then notify the feds when all the dust settles.) After the oil had reached the bayous, the feds responded. Typical.
Part two. The consequences for the people who earn their living from the coastlines and the Gulf are terrible. Some of the most independent people on the planet are Louisiana fishermen and all with this oil killing the shrimp, oysters, and other fish that normally end up on America's dinner plate, this ends not only their jobs this season, but for years to come. With the economy being what it is and unemployment being what it is, that makes all these people dependent on government, thus eliminating more of the middle class. Added consequences are that the disaster takes a huge section of our food supply away from us, forcing the US to import more food, causing the cost of our seafood to increase and, making us less self-sufficient, less independent, more part of the "global community".
Part three. The gist of utilizing the crises by this political regime is what can be accomplished behind the scenes while everyone is paying attention to the 24, 7 coverage of the oil spill. First and foremost, the Obama regime took its first major step in a plan to ban all firearms in the United States. The Obama regime intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department (Hilary Clinton) to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments, such as Russia, Communist China, North Korea, Cuba, Mexico, and others. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms. The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto. The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.
The First Amendment is also in the regime's crosshairs. HR 5175 which is passing through committee, would silence Obama/democrat critics prior to elections. The so-called DISCLOSE Act would severely limit the ability of political groups to communicate to their members and the general public. And,the federal government would have “absolute power” to shut down the Internet under the terms of a new US Senate bill being pushed by Joe Lieberman, legislation which would hand President Obama a figurative “kill switch” to seize control of the world wide web in response to a Homeland Security directive. Lieberman has been pushing for government regulation of the Internet for years under the guise of cybersecurity, but this new bill goes even further in handing emergency powers over to the feds which could be used to silence free speech under the pretext of a national emergency. "Disclose" being big brother double speak similar to the "fairness doctrine". "War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength."
No, can't let a good crises go to waste, and this regime is trying to steal as much of your liberty as it can while pointing at the disaster.

Israel's Blockade of Gaza

This is old news, but I thought I would add my thoughts. First, Hamas is an international terrorist organization with the sworn objective of destroying Israel and has been at war with Israel since its inception. Since before Hamas seized control of the Gaza government they have been launching rockets and terrorist raids into Israeli civilian population centers. Israel is responding with a standard military practice, i.e., blockading the enemy from sea re-supply. This tactic has great historic precedent: The French navy blockaded the British strong point of Yorktown during the American War for Independence, the Union blockaded the Confederates during the American Civil War, Britain repeatedly blockaded French ports during their many wars, and again Britain blockaded German ports during WWI. Any one with half a brain realizes that if you enter a war zone you are liable to be killed, especially if you are trying to run a blockade operated by one of the best militaries in the world. Secondly, "humanitarian aid", in time after time we have watched as "aid" meant for poor, starving civilians in third world countries has been seized by the armed authorities or local warlords, only to be used for military operations. Hamas has sworn to destroy Israel, who do you think is going to receive the food, building supplies, medicines, clothing, etc. that was on board those ships? Duh! I hate that expression, but it fits the people who support these terrorists. So, three cheers for Israel, may they continue to intercept terrorists and those who would support them!!!

An 80-year-old Chicago man shot and killed an armed man who broke into his two-story house in a pre-dawn home invasion Wednesday on the city's West Side.

At about 5:20 a.m., the homeowner and his wife, also in her 80s, discovered the intruder entering their home through a back door. The homeowner, who had a gun, confronted and killed the burglar on the doorstep, police said. Cops said the intruder also fired his gun during the struggle.

"It's a good thing they had a gun, or they might be dead," said Curtis Thompson, who lives next door to the couple, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Neighbors described the elderly couple, who both walk with canes, as pillars of the community in Garfield Park, where home invasions have been all too frequent.

Their neighbor, Shaquite Johnson, told MyFoxChicago that the two are "heroes" for fighting off the attacker — and that the shooting means there is "one less criminal" walking the streets.
"They don't bother no one, so why would anyone do that to them?" she said.

Relatives of the couple told the Sun Times that the man is an Army veteran, his wife a former nurse. Police said neither the man nor the woman was injured in the attack.

The assailant, who was described by police as being in his 30s, was found slumped on the back doorstep of the couple's house, removed four hours after the shooting, the Sun Times reported.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner, but Chicago currently has a statute outlawing the possession of handguns. Its legality is currently being decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

A high-profile Chicago attorney has already stepped forward offering to represent the man pro bono if he faces charges for possessing a weapon.

"Self-defense isn't just a right, it's a duty," said attorney Joel Brodsky. "If this man is prosecuted for saving his own life it's not just a travesty, it's justice turned inside out."
This is to remind you of McDonald Vs. Chicago, now before the Supreme Court which would strike down the law which currently makes this 80 year old veteran a criminal in Chicago. Mayor Daley strongly endorses the handgun ban law in Chicago, evidently believing that honest citizens have no right to defend themselves against criminals. Also, this illustrates the need to ensure we have a Supreme Court which will endorse our individual rights in such cases. Hmmm....

New Obama Threat

Elana Kagan is the latest extreme Obama nominee to threaten our Constitution and Bill of Rights. She has repeatedly advocated being an activist judge and is often at odds with the First Amendment. Joined with rhetoric of the need to control the Internet and reintroduction of the so-called 'fairness doctrine' this is indeed alarming to a free people. And reminiscent of Moscow 1921, Berlin 1933, and Peking 1949. With quotes like:"It should be no surprise by now that many of the votes a Supreme Court justice casts have little to do with technical legal ability and much to do with conceptions of value," Kagan said in a review of Yale law professor Stephen Carter's book "The Confirmation Mess." and:Kagan quoted Carter approvingly to say that to decide the hard cases that rise to the level of Supreme Court review, justices must use their judgment. When they do that, Kagan said (again citing Carter), their "own experience and values become the most important data."

It may be hard to divine just what Kagan meant, but it's "not calling balls and strikes," says Georgetown University law professor Pamela Harris.
In handwritten notes that were among the thousands of pages of documents Kagan provided the Senate Judiciary Committee, she said judicial review "should be exercised w/ caution" because it involves overturning the actions of popularly elected officials.

Interpreting the Constitution is not mechanical, she said. If it were, it "wouldn't be issue," Kagan wrote in abbreviated notes.

Interpretation, Kagan said, "necessarily + inevitably" involves "political + policy questions."
These all point to phoning and emailing your state's US senators and urging them to NOT confirm Ms. Kagan to the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
