Slave Revolts

I recently read a book found at a used book store. It is a child’s book, approximately 7th or 8th grade level, about slave revolts in the “new world” and is titled Rebels Against Slavery. It is politically correct, but even at a child’s level it presents information that most people do not know. From this info I have delved into a more intensive study of the historical incidents presented. Slavery is evil. This evil dates back into ancient history in every society on earth. No exceptions. It was accepted practice worldwide until it was banned in the western hemisphere in the 19th century. Slavery continued in Africa, Asia, and the middle east into the 20th century and exists in remote areas even today. The recent movie, Amistad, is based on a true incident of slave revolt. Perhaps I am not looking to the right or wrong of slavery as much as how slaves were able to rebel against their oppressors. My question of ‘how’ I suppose is for near future reference because the direction governments are going, many of us will have need of the knowledge of how to stage a slave revolt. Remember, the Jews in Germany in 1930 refused to believe that Hitler, a politician, would actually do what he said he would in his book, Mein Kampf. Imagine a politician keeping his word! Then came the “security” laws which disarmed first the Jews then all the German people. Then came enslavement and the holocaust. It can’t happen here in America, just ask the Indians. Or ask the descendents of slavery in America.
