Thanksgiving and Climate

I want to think about all I have to be thankful for: My wonderful wife and children, our extended family and our friends who are like family, for the only country in the world which recognizes individual rights, and for the love of God who created all of the above. I have been truly blessed, and for that I am truly grateful. I have also been blessed which some adversity, which "if it doesn't kill me, makes me stronger..." And for a sense of humor to deal with it all. In that vein, go to http://www.minnesotansforglobalwarming.com/m4gw/ and watch "Hide the Decline". It is hilarious, then go to the Drudge Report and read some of the articles exposing the "Global warming" for the farce it is.

Terror Trials?

The prospect of trying the Gitmo terrorists in civil court brings forth many complications for the American people. First is the approach the administration is taking. Bringing these terrorists into civil court and granting them the rights of US citizens legitimizes their position. It also calls into play the fact that these men were, unlike Timothy McVeigh, not "Mirandized" making any information they provided inadmissible in US court. With the statements by Holder and Obama that these men would be tried, convicted, and executed, makes a farce of our "fair" system of justice. Which is already in enough trouble and does not need any "help" from these two. Their statements could have come from any third world dictatorship, Zimbabwe for example. Secondly, if we can bring these men into court, try and convict them without following our established judicial procedures, does that establish a precedence that one of us can be arrested and held and tried without following our established judicial procedures? Not that presidents have a record of trying to circumvent legal restraints, nor have established "enemies lists". And thirdly, it is providing a distraction while Reid, Pelosi, and company are trying to hyjack our health care system. Stay alert, stay focused, and stockpile.

Don't Be Distracted

Ok, I agree that it is wrong to bring the prisoners from Gitmo to NY for trial, but that is not the real issue. This is a distraction from the attempt to seize health care in the US. These people are not stupid, they would not be in power if they were. These are calculating, cunning political animals. They grew up on the works of Mao, Stalin, Lenin, and Sun Tzu. They learned their lessons well. Do NOT let these people redirect your energy away from the matter at hand. As the good Congresswoman Foxx from NC stated:"I believe that the greatest fear that we all should have ... to our freedom comes from this room, this very room, and what may happen later this week in terms of a tax increase bill masquerading as a health care bill," she said. "I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country." What the Gitmo terrorists did was horrible, but it pales in comparison with what Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are trying to do. And remember, the Obama/Holder record on handling terrorists is nothing to be proud of. Holder arranged pardons for Puerto Rican terrorists, failed to prosecute Black Panther terrorists, and Obama endorses Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers, so don't expect much from these guys. Besides, when did foreign enemies receive the rights and protections of American citizens?

Health Care

The first round of the fight for America's health care has been lost, but the fight is not over. We must show the same strength and determination as the men of Valley Forge and continue to fight the good fight. According to Politico's Ben Smith, some lawmakers who voted against this proposed destruction of the best health care system in the world have been targeted by the DNC and their minions. These brave men and women are listed below, we all owe them our heartfelt thanks. Please call, write, and/or email these legislators, whether they are in your district or not, and encourage them to continue to vote against these bills to empower government take over of our health care system. Chicago style pressure will be brought to bear against them and they deserve to know we support them, and appreciate what they have done.

The Weimar Dollar?

We have heard a lot about stimulus spending, but only a small percentage of the approved money has been ‘invested’ in the US infrastructure for which it was authorized. It has proven to be the exact opposite of earmarked funds as there was no specific destination or timeline for the money. There was just a huge amount of money put at Pres. Obama’s disposal, to be used as he sees fit for ‘the good of the country’. Read, to solidify his political position. More bad news is that with limited gold reserves in the US and with the exporting of our manufacturing base, there is nothing on which to base all this money the government is printing. Now the rest of the world is divesting itself of US dollars which will only make matters worse. As the dollar continues to be devalued, we see parallels between the Obama administration and the Weimar Republic of the 1920’s. As the Deutsch Mark spiraled into oblivion, political leaders increased street violence so the mass population would want the government to take more control, for their ‘security’. We see the dollar spiraling on the Deutsch Mark’s path, and government officials branding patriotic Americans and veterans ‘terrorists’. The same type of political leaders are encouraging Americans to spy on each other and report ‘suspicious’ activity. It sounds like East Germany ’s secret police, the Stasi, is influencing the current administration. From the failed Weimar Republic to the failed communist East German dictatorship, the Obama administration seems bent upon destroying the US to solidify his power. It is like the old, bad joke: Doctor: “The good news is that the operation was a success, but the bad news is that the patient died.”

Arnold Terminates Maria's Cell Phone

Arnold "the Terminator" terminated the cell phone of his wife, Maria Shriver, after she was videoed talking while driving. This in violation of a law recently signed by Gov. Terminator. I can hear her now: "But, Arnold, I'm a Kennedy! I don't have to obey the law!"

Remembering 9-11-01

Listening to the Huckabee Report on 9-11-09, I heard him say, and I agree, that the best way to honor the heroes of 9-11-01 is to send a package to one of our servicemen serving in the Middle East. Amen. Then he said they were fighting to prevent another 9-11. They are, but no matter how hard nor effectively they fight, they are fighting an enemy today, not preventing others in the future. And they are fighting very far away. To prevent another 9-11 requires leadership, and our current an previous administrations have not provided such leadership. In fact, these current administrations have waited for another attack to capitalize upon to try to force their corrupt plans on an unwilling citizenry (The Patriot Act and Universal Health Care)as FDR tried to do in the years following Pearl Harbor. To quote Obama's chief advisor: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste..." So, no matter how hard our brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines fight, without a plan to protect and win, we here at home are still vulnerable to enemy attack. When someone gives assistance to our enemies, say by disabling or not implementing necessary precautions, does that not make them an enemy too?

Eric Holder Strikes Again!

Obama's Attorney General, Eric Holder, is wasting no time trying to destroy the US intelligence network. He has appointed a veteran prosecutor to "review" CIA actions to gain important information from terrorists wanting to destroy the US. This is in contrast (or in conjunction with) Holder's past actions regarding terrorists. As Deputy Attorney General he recommended pardoning Weather Underground terrorists Linda Evans and Susan Rosenberg who were serving life sentences for the murders of two police officers and a Brinks armoured guard in 1981. Remember the Weather Underground? Obama's mentor, William Ayers, was a founder and leader of the communist Weather Underground. Terrorists of FALN and Clinton donor and fugitive tax evader,Mark Rich, also received pardons due to Holder's efforts. Additionally, Holder does not believe in the Second Amendment and has worked hard against it. He supported the unconstitutional ban on handguns in Washington, DC and has repeatedly spoken out in favor of the so called "assault weapons ban". He has gone so far as to blame honest US citizens and our rights for the violence caused by drug criminals in Mexico. Both the criminals in the Mexican government and their rivals outside the government.
I hate to be trite, but the handwriting is on the wall.If you can't see that the Obama administration is trying to destroy America as we know it and as it was meant to be, you are blind or you simply can't read.

Very Interesting!

I found this and thought it would be of interest.

The Liberal Fear of Guns
Jacob Hornberger
Campaign For Liberty
Friday, August 28, 2009

Liberal columnist David Sirota is scared, and he believes that the First Amendment is intended to eliminate his fear. In a column entitled "Freedom from Fear -- and the Second Amendment," Sirota argues that because some people get scared when they see guns and think that the gun owner is going to shoot them if they say the wrong thing, the Second Amendment is a threat to the First Amendment.

The purpose of the Constitution was to call into existence the federal government and, at the same time, to protect us from that government through the grant of very limited powers to the government.

The original Constitution wasn't good enough for the American people, however, who had severe reservations about calling into existence a federal government, one that they were sure would threaten their rights and liberties. Thus, they demanded passage of the Bill of Rights, which was intended to be another express safeguard, on top of the Constitution, against the federal government.

Take a look at the First Amendment. Read it carefully. Does it say anything about gun owners' threat to free speech? About freedom from fear?

No. It says that Congress shall be prohibited from infringing free speech. Now, that's quite clear, isn't it? It's Congress that the First Amendment protects us from. Our American ancestors understood that the federal government, especially Congress, was the threat to people's right to exercise free speech.

And why Congress? Because our ancestors understood that historically government officials don't like people criticizing what they're doing. So, they enact laws to punish people for criticizing government officials.

Why did our American ancestors enact the Second Amendment? Because they understood that without the right to keep and bear arms, the First Amendment becomes worthless. Why? Because if government officials realize that people lack the means to resist tyranny with force, those government officials will simply ignore the constitutional prohibition against freedom of speech by enacting laws that criminalize the criticism of government.

Don't believe me? Take a look at what's happening in Iran and China. Government officials are jailing people for criticizing the government knowing that the risk of violent revolution is virtually nonexistent.

But when the citizenry is armed, government officials have to factor that in to their deliberations when deciding whether to violate the restrictions in the First Amendment.

This is what liberals hate. They place their total trust in democracy. They won't say so expressly but they absolutely hate the idea that people have the right of revolution, which is why they continue to pooh-pooh Jefferson's quotation about watering the tree of liberty. If they were honest, they would just come out and denounce that part of the Declaration of Independence in which Jefferson stated that whenever any government becomes destructive of the ends for which it was formed, it is the right to the people to alter or abolish it and to institute new government.

What about Sirota's belief that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were intended to protect him from being scared. It's just plain nonsense. The notion originated during the Great Depression, when liberal icon President Franklin Roosevelt used it to implement his socialist and facist program known as the New Deal. Running roughshod over the federal judiciary, which was declaring much of his program unconstitutional, FDR argued that he was just protecting people's "freedom from fear."

But the Constitution doesn't say anything about protecting people from their own internal fears, anxieties, depressions, or other psychological ailments. Those are things that people must conquer on their own. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights protect us from the federal government.

Finally, Sirota makes a false and fallacious assumption about gun control that is common to liberals. He assumes that because a law is passed prohibiting people from carrying guns, prospective murderers will respect it and obey it.

But as libertarians have long pointed out, that's just wishful nonsense. At the risk of belaboring the obvious, if a murderer isn't going to obey a law against murder, then he isn't going to obey a law against possessing a gun.

There is no better place for a murderer to do his dirty deed than in a place that he is sure is a gun-free zone. After all, compare the number of murders in public schools to those that are committed at gun shows.

The right to keep and bear arms protects us from both the federal government and private criminals. For the sake of our safety and our freedom, we can never permit those who live in fear to eviscerate this vitally important fundamental right.

Is The Alarm Sounding?

Once again the commentators are not quite hitting the mark. I am not even sure they are seeing the right target. One radio host states that the Obama administration and its supporters see government as the source of America's greatness and that to make America great requires more government. That is not the case. They do not care about America, other than to tear it down to third world status. This is nothing new, there have been "politicians" who have been working on this for decades. If you research The Congressional Record, Senators Strom Thurmond, Barry Goldwater, and others back in 1960 recognized the threat of subversive activity in the US. Remember, communism was advancing rapidly, with very little opposition because everyone was concentrating on, and fearful of, nuclear confrontation. While we were rightly building bomb shelters, we were ignoring the subversive elements in American society, who were working to unravel and bankrupt our free republic. These subversives began infiltrating every level of government and began to tie down our productivity and dismantle our security by legislation. We are now so overburdened that industry, jobs, and wealth have been driven out of the country. Sounds like a successful campaign according to Sun Tzu's Art of War, which is what Marx advocated. And the productive people in America did what we do, buckled down, adjusted, and worked that much harder. In having to increasingly work harder, we lost the time to pay attention to what was going on behind the scenes, and our country was disfigured and our Constitution mutilated. Our work ethic and our desire to be left alone in peace to pursue our work and lives is both an asset and a liability. We are now faced with a dilemma of freedom versus tyranny. July 4, 1776 is day of the Declaration of Independence, but the fight for independence began April 19,1775 and it took fifteen months of armed conflict to bring the American people to the realization that a fight was being thrust upon them. That has been the case with each conflict we have been drawn into. What is going to draw us next? Is the alarm sounding?

Obama and Ahmadinejad, the Leaders

Obama is not upset by the Iranian government's actions because Obama does not endorse freedom of thought, action, or election. He does not endorse the protests of the Iranian people nor condemn the violent actions of the Iranian government because he, too, would like to have the same power and authority. Obama would have used similar tactics against the TEA Party protesters had he been more solidly in power. Ahmadinejad has much that Obama envies: absolute power, total control of all media(Obama has not gained control of radio or the Internet, yet), total financial control(working on it), total military control(US military is hostile to his un-constitutional plans), total police and para military control, control of commerce, food supplies, and energy. Obama has made great strides in controlling many of these areas in the US. He has not objected to what the Iranians have done because he, like they, believes the state is all important and the state serves the leader. And Obama sees himself as The Leader.

Financial Problems

The Socialist Republic of Kalifornia is leading the way on the North American continent, again. Straight down the tubes. The spend and spend mentality of the legislature of Kalifornia has come home, yet again. The working poor in the state, which translates to any one still working, as the taxes in the state are prohibitive to working, are still being raped at gunpoint by 'their' government. The enlightened state which has given us needle exchanges for drug addicts, legalized marijuana for 'medicinal' purposes, and the 9th Circus Court is giving us the path to financial destruction. The Washington, D.C. crowd is blindly barrelling down the road at full speed. "If government spending has done so much for California, let's do it for the whole country." Need I say more? As the state laid off employees, productive workers, and cut the pay of others, it continues to pay welfare to the parasite class. People with alcoholism 'disability' still get their checks, and people whose behavior has caused them to contract horrible diseases still get their preferential treatment, in lieu of easing the tax burden of those who were prudent in their lives, wanting only to work and provide for their families. Since the parasite class was instrumental in putting Obama in office, we will not see any lowering of their 'benefits' until it directly affects him. If you hadn't noticed we are well on the path forewarned in Ayn Rand's book "Atlas Shrugged". If you haven't read it I suggest that you do. Once read, prepare yourself and your family for what is facing our country.

Wake Up America

This was sent to me by a reader, and I had to share it with you. Be advised, it is long, but worth the read.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
Wake up America !!!
by Pam Geller

I am a student of history. Professionally, I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied history all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes, these exist but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it.. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about 10 - 15 years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demanded and then codified into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people whom we knew could never pay back? Why? We learned recently that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the $700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September.

Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of "We the People," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders… Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity… Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, Social Security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about.) The list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x 10. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla , Alaska .. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more important.)

Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: Change...radical change Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now. This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming and when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully them into submission.

And then he was duly elected to office, with a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media - Did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and...change. And the people surely got what they voted for. (Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.) Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe . It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years - a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S.. presidency - it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong, close my eyes, have another latte and ignore what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me; others laugh or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe - and why I believe it. I pray I am wrong. But, I do not think I am.

Gas Prices Rise With Unemployment

Well, President Obama, why are gas prices rising? There has been no interruption of production, no tropical storm to damage or close refineries, unemployment has risen to record levels so more people are not driving to work, thus reducing demand, there is no Bush in office, so why are gas prices rising? With the democrats firmly in charge of our federal government, the people should not be burdened with increasing gas prices. Unemployment should be at zero, pollution should evaporate, money with value should flow, and all should be right with the world. So what is wrong? During the Great Depression, for a dime one could buy "A RC cola and a Moon Pie" now you cannot buy either one for under a dollar. Where is the value in the money that is flowing from the federal government? This money being taken by force of threat from working Americans. So again, why are gas prices rising? Perhaps the Obamassiah can lay hands on the gas pumps and cause the storm of gas prices rising to calm and be still.

The Shot Heard 'round the World

As April 19th approaches, I think back to that spring day in Massachusetts when Americans were chafing under the bridle of the British Empire. When the British army marched to take weapons away from honest citizens; farmers, bankers, tradesmen, and merchants. And the honest citizens used those arms to resist tyranny. In 1775, the British army was the most professional and well equipped in the world. The British navy ruled the high seas. And a handful number of free men, honestly armed, stood up to tyranny at Lexington and Concord, sending the British army in full retreat to the safety of Boston. American blood was spilled along with British from that day and for eight long, bitter, desperate years until the birth of an infant, free nation. Thomas Jefferson said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." The article reprinted in the companion www.gadsden2006.wordpress.com is a powerful statement of what our founders would think of us today, and what their actions would be. July 4, 1776 was the day the Declaration of Independence was signed, but April 19, 1775 was the day free men stood up to tyranny and began the war for independence, without a national government telling them to do it. They did it because it was the right thing to do.

Oakland's Murderer Supporters

In typical Californian fashion, four police officers are murdered by a criminal, who is subsequently killed by police, and the people protest in support of the criminal. That is so typical of the Socialist Republic of California. Lovelle Mixon is a convicted felon, guilty of aggravated assault with a firearm. After being released from prison, he is apprehended as a suspect in a murder. Charges are dropped due to lack of evidence. Mixon, who is on parole, is being visited by his parole officer in Feb. 2009 when his parole officer cannot locate him. Following three more attempts to locate Mixon over the next three weeks, to no avail, Mixon is listed as Parollee-at-large. When Mixon is pulled over for a traffic violation, he begins shooting at the officers. As a convicted felon, Mixon should not be in possession of a firearm, but he is a criminal and does not obey laws. Mixon then runs to his sister's apartment to hide, very much like the Muslim terrorists hiding behind women and children, and he kills two more police officers. Mixon is then killed by other police officers, and the people of Oakland celebrate the deaths of four police officers and mourn a murderer. What a mess the country is in.

The Government Buckles on One

If you hadn't heard, the Dept of Defense had stopped selling fired small arms brass to ammunition manufacturers under the Obama administration:
By Drew Zahn
© 2009 WorldNetDaily

A recent government policy change has taken a bite out of the nation's
already stressed ammunition supply, leaving arms dealers scrambling to find ammo for
private gun owners.
Georgia Arms is a company that for the last 15 years has been purchasing
fired brass shell casings from the Department of Defense and private government
surplus liquidators. The military collects the discarded casings from fired
rounds, then sells them through liquidators to companies like Georgia Arms that
remanufacture the casings into ammunition for the law enforcement and civilian
gun owner communities.
But earlier this month, Georgia Arms received a canceled order, informed by
its supplier that the government now requires fired brass casings be mutilated,
in other words, destroyed to a scrap metal state.
The policy change, handed down from the Department of Defense through the
Defense Logistics Agency, cuts a supply leg out from underneath ammunition
manufacturers.
The policy has compelled Georgia Arms, for example, to cancel all sales of
.223 and .308 ammunition, rounds used, respectively, in semi-automatic and deer
hunting rifles, until further notice. Sharch Manufacturing, Inc. has
announced the same cancellation of its .223 and .308 brass reloading components.
"They just reclassified brass to allow destruction of it, based on what?"
Georgia Arms owner Larry Haynie asked WND. "We've been 'going green' for the last
dozen years, and brass is one of the most recyclable materials out there. A
cartridge case can be used over and over again. And now we're going to destroy
it based on what? We don't want the civilian public to have it? It's a
government injustice."
As WND reported, firearm sales have spiked since the election of a perceived
anti-gun president, and Americans stockpiling bullets have produced a stressed
ammunition market.
The Orlando Sentinel reports months of steady, heavy buying have left gun
dealers in Florida facing shortages of ammunition.
"The survivalist in all of us comes out," John Ritz, manager of a Florida
shooting range, told the Sentinel. "It's more about protecting what you have."
"People are just stockpiling," said a spokeswoman for Georgia Arms, which has
seen bullet sales jump 100 percent since the election. "A gun is just like a
car. If you can't get gas, you can't use it."
WND contacted the Defense Logistics Agency, the Department of Defense's
largest combat support agency, several times seeking comment or explanation for the
policy change but received none.
The National Rifle Association confirmed to WND that the DLA had been
instructed to require the scrapping of the brass casings but declined further comment
at this time.
Other gun advocates, however, have sounded off on the issue, eyeing the
change in government policy with suspicion and filling the blogosphere with
speculation that the effects of the policy change may be deliberate.
"It is an end-run around Congress. They don't need to try to ban guns – they
don't need to fight a massive battle to attempt gun registration, or limit
'assault' weapon sales," writes firearm instructor and author Gordon Hutchinson
on his The Shootist blog. "Nope. All they have to do is limit the amount of
ammunition available to the civilian market, and when bullets dry up, guns will
be useless."
A writer named Owen at the Boots & Sabers blog suspects the policy change is
an effort by an anti-gun administration to raise the cost of ammunition.
"This policy didn't come out of the blue," writes Owen. "The Commander in
Chief is clearly sending a message to gun owners that they should be paying more
for ammunition. If he can't do it through regulatory action, he'll do it by
forcing ammunition manufacturers to spend more on production."
Hutchinson reports Georgia Arms was manufacturing over 1 million rounds of
.223 ammunition every month, but without the ability to purchase expended
military ammunition, the company may be forced to lay off up to half its workforce
But due to pressure from across America this was changed:
NOTICE!!!
A hardy congratulation is due to our loyal customers, our good friends, and our fellow shooting enthusiasts through out this great nation! Due to the diligent and overwhelming effort of many thousands of you, calling, writing, and emailing our elected officials, DOD Surplus, LLC, has rescinded its prior directive that ALL small arms spent casings be mutilated rather than recycled. This was a huge victory for common sense and we would like to thank each and every person who made an effort and played a role in correcting this mistake. We at Georgia Arms are proud of everyone who took the time and had the courage to stand up for our rights. We believe, that by your outpouring of anger and dismay, you not only extended our liberty and freedoms but also took a stand for economic common sense in a time when we know our government should be trying to reduce costs at all levels rather than throwing money away for some politically correct reason or the other. Again, our hat is off to everyone who helped and thanks to God as well. We will roll up our sleeves and go back to work; we have 223’s and 308’s to build! (Below is a copy of the email we received from DOD on 3/17/09 @ 4:30pm)

GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!!!
(This was pertaining to an outstanding bid on a lot of brass that we won prior to the mutilation order. DOD sent us a bill for the brass after we had refused it due to the mutilation requirements. DOD on Monday sent us a bill for the brass and when we responded that we had already refused it due to the mutilation clause, we received this reply via email.)

I am sorry you hadn’t been informed –
Word came down that all shells 50 caliber or smaller CAN still be purchased without the mutilation requirement as long as kept in the US.
(As it was in limbo, I did not sent your EUC to Battle Creek until today, also why I have not contacted you for payment until today.)
Thanks!

As was said in the Georgia Arms post on their website, congratulations to all who helped change this outrageous plan by voicing their opinion, and a special thanks to those who published this government 'end run' attempt around the second amendment.
This illustrates the need to protect the ENTIRE Bill of Rights. Great job!!!

1944 Vision Realized in 2008

This quote was sent to me by a reader and I found it fascinating.
Sixty-five years ago:

Norman Thomas knew what was going to happen to our country
in 2008 !!!!

Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 – December 19,
1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and
six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of
America.

The Socialist Party candidate for President of the US,
Norman Thomas, said this in a 1944 speech:
"The American people will never knowingly adopt
socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism,"
they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program,
until one day America will be a socialist nation, without
knowing how it happened."
He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a
Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat
Party has adopted our platform."

The Storm Has Not Yet Begun to Rage

You’ve heard the Boy Scout motto for years: “Be prepared.” And for years people have been saying to stockpile weapons, ammunition, food/water, and medical supplies, before you need them or before you can’t get them. Now with the election of the most anti-second amendment government in U.S. history, the time is not short, it is gone. No new legislation has been passed, but firearms have disappeared from the shelves and ammunition, if you can find any, is priced astronomically higher than it was a year ago. What is next? Have you been to the grocery store, lately? The price of basic staples has gone through the roof. With the orchestrated rise in oil prices and numerous weather calamities the cost of food is ridiculously high in the “Land of Plenty”. And we all know about the increased price of even over the counter medicines. What to do? Now? Good question. If you haven’t prepared, it will be difficult to do so with so many workers out of work. As the shortages begin to cut into what the welfare class can buy with their food stamps, they will resort to their preferred profession, thievery. And with increasing desperation, they will be come increasingly violent. You will have fight to keep what is yours. The problem is do you have anything to fight for or with? Before the socialists in Washington, D.C. enact more population control laws, disguised as “crime bills” buy what you can. A single shot shotgun and boxes of shells is better than a baseball bat. Non perishable Spam is better than cat food. Don’t think it will get that bad? Think the worst is upon us? Don’t look now, but the storm clouds are still on the horizon, the storm has not even begun to rage yet. While there is still time, buy food, over the counter medicines, Kotex; yes, Kotex, for the obvious reasons, but also for the original reason they were made: blood absorbing bandages for combat, i.e., gunshot, wounds during WWI, bleach for sanitizing and purifying water. Purifying water? Yes, dysentery and other diseases can be prevented if you have safe, clean drinking and washing water. Place two drops of household bleach in a quart of clear water in a canteen or bottle, replace the lid and shake vigorously and let sit for thirty minutes and you have a quart of safe drinking water. For cloudy water, four drops. Taste good? No, but it is safe and people must have water. Buy what ever weapons you can because you will have to rely on yourselves, remember Katrina? With every disaster, the looters, like the rats, come out and prey on the unprepared. And under the “pro-second amendment” Bush administration, the government confiscated guns from honest citizens, while leaving the looters free to roam at will.

The Real Threat to the U.S.

The founding fathers were brilliant in that they understood the real danger to the country they were forming. They did not restrict firearm ownership because they had seen first hand that weapons in the hands of the citizens are good and effective tools. They also set up a form of government that was a Constitutional Republic. The founders understood that the real threat to the continuity of our country was not the threat of idiots with bullets, but of idiots with ballots. That is the real and true danger to our country and our liberties. As it has been pointed out: "when you listen to fools, the mob rules". Case in point, the most recent election of Barack Obama by people who had no clue as to which party currently controlled Congress, could not name their Congressional Representative, nor could identify any policy stand or statement by ANY candidate. All they voted on was the promise of "change" without understanding that "change" is not always positive. With Pelosi, Murtha, McCarthy and the like ruling the House of Representatives; with Reid, Feinstein, Boxer, and Schumer ruling the Senate, and Obama the president, one is reminded of Julius Caeser being appointed Dictator in Perpetuity and the transformation of the Roman Republic into an autocratic empire. Change you can believe in.

Unlikely US Event

This will fall into the "unlikely to impossible to happen" arena, but...
A thought recently raced through my head that I am sure the professionals have already prepared for. What would be the prime time to knock the US out of international leadership and possibly knock the US out period?
A group, or individual, fanatically opposed to the US with financial backing of tremendous wealth acquires a loose tactical or back pack nuclear device (reference previous entry Border Worry Dec. 21, 2007)left over from the USSR or elsewhere. This person or group places the device near the Capitol Building in Washington, DC and detonates it on, say, Jan 20, 2009. What effect would that have?
The US would lose:
1. The out going president and vice president, their staffs and families.
2. The in coming president and vice president, their staffs and families.
3. The entire US Congress and their families and staffs.
4. The US Supreme Court and their families and staffs.
5. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Chiefs of Staff of the US Military.
6. Visiting foreign dignitaries and their families and staffs.
7. Numerous state governors present for the inauguration.
8. Elite members of our military, law enforcement, and emergency responder agencies.
9. Millions of Americans present for the event.
What lunatic jihadist with access to middle east oil dollars would not jump at the opportunity?
That would be a completely devastating blow to the country without doing damage to the national infrastructure. The radiation would be blown out to sea, and the gulf stream would carry it out, and away from the US.
There would be no national government left. Martial law would be ineffective with so many soldiers overseas and with the unified command gone. Near main infantry bases there could be some degree of control, but that would not extend far from the base boundaries. It would be the effective end of US foreign policy and we would have forces stranded overseas. Criminals would seize the opportunity to wreak even more havoc and anarchy would prevail where there was not a strong local government to quell it.
Unlikely, yes. It was unlikely that the Spanish would sink the USS Maine in Havana Harbor. It was unlikely that one torpedo would sink the Lusitania. It was unlikely that the Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor. It was unlikely that some undereducated Muslim radicals would fly planes into the Twin Towers.
