According to the weather reports, it is our understanding that it is 122 degrees in Iraq right now -- and the low will be 111! Our troops need our prayers for strength, endurance, and safety..

If it be God's will, give these men and women the strength they need to prevail.

Bad Good Ol' Boy Joke

I am destined to remember bad old jokes, and I believe I heard this one from Lewis Grizzard: It seems that these two good ol' boys were sitting on the porch watching the grass grow when an old male dog walked across the uncut yard and climbed up on the porch. While the dog was sitting there he began to lick himself where male dogs are want to lick themselves. One good ol' boy leaned over to the other and said, "I wish I could do that." The other good ol' boy looked shocked as he exclaimed, "That dog would bite you!"

China Using Oil as a Strategy

What is the possibility of China buying up oil to stockpile and to force the price of oil up in the U.S.? Remember, the Chinese think long term. This strategy would have multiple benefits for our "friends" in Peking.
One, they would be building a strategic stockpile of oil.
Two, they would be crippling an already hurting U.S. economy, thus reducing U.S. influence world wide.
Three, it affects the U.S. election causing a more agreeable (if possible) administration to be in the White House.
Four, it causes dissent and strife in the U.S., distracting us away from other issues such as Tibet and NAFTA.
Conspiracy theory? Maybe, or maybe they are just taking advantage of the situation being driven by speculators in oil futures. Another thing to remember, the People's Republic of China is still a brutal dictatorship and they have to answer to no one. Some U.S. politicians have not forgotten that and are apparently trying to emulate them here.

Democrats Propose Stripping Rights from Veterans

I don't know why I am surprized, but Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY)and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) are proposing to strip rights away from those who served to protect the rights of all of us. Including the rights of McCarthy and Leahy. Read the attached article, because I could not express it any better.
Veterans Disarmament Act To Bar Vets From Owning Guns

Hundreds of thousands of veterans -- from Vietnam through Operation Iraqi Freedom -- are at risk of being banned from buying firearms if legislation that is pending in Congress gets enacted.

How? The Veterans Disarmament Act -- which has already passed the House -- would place any veteran who has ever been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on the federal gun ban list.

This is exactly what President Bill Clinton did over seven years ago when his administration illegitimately added some 83,000 veterans into the National Criminal Information System (NICS system) -- prohibiting them from purchasing firearms, simply because of afflictions like PTSD.

The proposed ban is actually broader. Anyone who is diagnosed as being a tiny danger to himself or others would have his gun rights taken away ... forever. It is section 102((1)©(iv) in HR 2640 that provides for dumping raw medical records into the system. Those names -- like the 83,000 records mentioned above -- will then, by law, serve as the basis for gun banning.

No wonder the Military Order of the Purple Heart is opposed to this legislation.

The House bill, HR 2640, is being sponsored by one of the most flaming anti-Second Amendment Representatives in Congress: Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY). Another liberal anti-gunner, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), is sponsoring the bill in the Senate.

Proponents of the bill say that helpful amendments have been made so that any veteran who gets his name on the NICS list can seek an expungement.

But whenever you talk about expunging names from the Brady NICS system, you’re talking about a procedure that has always been a long shot. Right now, there are NO EXPUNGEMENTS of law-abiding Americans’ names that are taking place under federal level. Why? Because the expungement process which already exists has been blocked for over a decade by a "funds cut-off" engineered by another anti-gunner, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY).

So how will this bill make things even worse? Well, two legal terms are radically redefined in the Veterans Disarmament Act to carry out this vicious attack on veterans’ gun rights.

One term relates to who is classified a "mental defective." Forty years ago that term meant one was adjudicated "not guilty" in a court of law by reason of insanity. But under the Veterans Disarmament Act, "mental defective" has been stretched to include anyone whom a psychiatrist determines might be a tiny danger to self or others.

The second term is "adjudicate." In the past, one could only lose one's gun rights through an adjudication by a judge, magistrate or court -- meaning conviction after a trial. Adjudication could only occur in a court with all the protections of due process, including the right to face one's accuser. Now, adjudication in HR 2640 would include a finding by "a court, commission, committee or other authorized person" (namely, a psychiatrist).

Forget the fact that people with PTSD have the same violent crime rate as the rest of us. Vietnam vets with PTSD have had careers and obtained permits to carry firearms concealed. It will now be enough for a psychiatric diagnosis (a "determination" in the language of the bill) to get a veteran barred ­for life ­ from owning guns.

Think of what this bill would do to veterans. If a robber grabs your wallet and takes everything in it, but gives you back $5 to take the bus home, would you call that a financial enhancement? If not, then we should not let HR 2640 supporters call the permission to seek an expungement an enhancement, when prior to this bill, veterans could not legitimately be denied their gun rights after being diagnosed with PTSD.

Veterans with PTSD should not be put in a position to seek an expungement. They have not been convicted (after a trial with due process) of doing anything wrong. If a veteran is thought to be a threat to self or others, there should be a real trial, not an opinion (called a diagnosis) by a psychiatrist.

If members of Congress do not hear from soldiers (active duty and retired) in large numbers, along with the rest of the public, the Veterans Disarmament Act -- misleadingly titled by Rep. McCarthy as the NICS Improvement Amendments Act -- will send this message to veterans: "No good deed goes unpunished."

Energy Repression

Thanks to the environmental wackos, U.S. oil companies are prohibited from drilling for oil off the coast of Florida. These people are quick to shrilly demand protection for the environment, and equally shrilly they demand investigation into high oil prices. Duh, cut supply, increase demand, price goes up. The advocates of solar and wind energy are quick to curtail "wind farms" in their backyards or playgrounds, i.e., Sen T. Kennedy and Sen L. Alexander. Wind and solar work, but cannot replace fossil fuel to supply our increasing demand. Any time a new refinery is proposed it is soundly opposed both locally and nationally. These people want to look at their cake and to eat it, too, while those of us working people are paying for their egotistical rantings and political maneuverings. The wackos do not object when the Brazil state owned oil company and Communist Cuba jointly drill for oil off the Florida coast, not that it would matter, the great thing about being Communist Cuba is never having to say you're sorry. Amazing, not a sound from Al Gore and company.
Switching to the nuclear front, if the American leftists favorite nation, France, can produce 78 per cent of the energy generated in France from nukes (http://energypriorities.com/entries/2007/05/france_78_nuclear.php), any one can. Let's face it, the French are perennial losers. The Mexicans celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It is the anniversary of the 5th of May 1862 battle of Pueblo in which they defeated the French. As a friend said,"Big deal, who hasn't?" Let's see, who has beaten the French? In recorded history, Romans, Visi Goths (Germans), Ostra Goths (more Germans), England, the vikings, Spain, the Flemish militia, Russia, England(again), American colonists, Haitian slaves, Mexico, Prussia(more Germans), Germans, Germans,Viet Minh, and Algerians. You could almost seat the U.N. with people who have beaten the French and these guys produce safe nuke energy. According to the leftist 'environmentalists' the U.S. can't produce safe nuke energy. It is time to shake off the environmental parasites and once again take our place as world leader in energy, technology, and manufacturing. To paraphrase Adm. Farragut, Damn the leftists, full speed ahead!
Call your congressman and senators, tell them to allow drilling off Florida, in ANWR, and to allow building of nuclear power plants and oil refineries. Never Doubt H. Clinton

And you still count Hillary out? Look, she has been kicking butt in the latest primaries. The DNC has caved and is ‘allowing’ the FL and Mich delegates into the convention with ½ a vote. This shows weakness on the part of the DNC, following the bad judgment of telling these states they couldn’t move their primary dates. Even the republicans opposed not counting the votes of U.S. citizens when the DNC made that pronouncement. By the time the convention arrives there will have been enough hoopla that all delegates will be seated and all votes will count. Now factor in the fact that members of the ‘all inclusive’ party have publicly stated, emphatically, that if Obama is the party nominee they will vote for McCain. That doesn’t speak well for anyone involved, but the party powers that be will or have taken notice. They will pull Obama and Mrs. Clinton into a back room and tell them: “This is how it goes…You are running together.”
“But, do you think O will go for that?”

4. He is wearing a U.S. flag lapel pin when wearing a jacket.

There have been numerous assassinations and attempts on U.S. politicians by a series of nutcases. Hillary is the most polarizing person in politics in decade, primarily for her anti-American, anti-Constitution stands. The powers that be might point that out to O as a selling point. They might also point out Vince Foster, et al, as someone who got in her way. Added is the premise that if he goes along eight years is not too long to wait.

The Warner Lieberman Bill, a.k.a. America’s Security Act of 2007

As usual with congress, if it sounds good, it’s probably bad. This bill is no exception. The devil is in the details. What this bill is “acclaimed for” is its “environmental impact” which is political speak for “punish America for being successful”. According to various reports 1 to 3 million U.S. jobs will be lost by the year 2020 if this bill becomes law. The U.S. economy will lose $1.2 trillion in the same amount of time. U.S. manufacturing jobs, already leaving the country in record numbers, will effectively be forced out at financial bayonet point. Why is the U.S. congress intent on destroying the U.S., industrially, financially, and politically? If for example, you have a chicken that has been laying eggs and you want to keep getting eggs from this chicken, would it make sense to chop off its head and fry it up for dinner? That is congress at its best. At worst we’ll discuss later. To allow Congress to further penalize our industries is to see complete outsourcing. We already cannot compete with the slave labor of Communist China and since Sen. Diane Feinstein(D – CA) and husband are up to their eyes in business in China, perhaps that might be an indicator as to why all our jobs are going over there.
