Politicians and War

Whenever a politician is beating the drum for a foreign war, you are about to get screwed domestically. The foreign wars, which are always in 'national defence' are reasons for restricted liberty, increased taxes, and drafting young warriors who might otherwise politically oppose the repressive domestic agenda. This is historically true for emperors and kings, popes and presidents. All have used the same old, tired lines. Effectively. The damage that can be done domestically is magnified if the enemy is obviously evil and a threat. Take FDR, his socialist ideas for America were meeting stiff opposition in both political parties and several independents. His drift toward war in Europe was so strongly opposed that he couldn't politically justify it. Even after Pearl Harbor, he didn't dare declare war on Germany until Hitler, stupidly, honored a treaty (that was unusual) with Japan and declared war on the U.S. With everyone concentrating on the war effort, a lot of FDR's policies for the socialist utopia came to pass and we are still struggling with their consequences. So when a politician begins beating the war drum, take a look around, for what he, or she, actually wants to do is to take from you, at home.
Or like the old adage says, 'When you shake hands with a politician with one hand, put your other hand firmly on your wallet.' Or, maybe the handle of a dagger.

Old Political Joke

In the mid 1930's with the U.S. firmly in the grip of The Great Depression, FDR brought socialism into vogue to a desperate population under the banner of The New Deal. It was fervently embraced by some and vehemently denounced by others. Therein lies our story:
A young man was taking his grandfather to church one Sunday. As they were leaving the church, the new deacon was at the front door with the priest shaking hands with the congregation. When the young man and his grandfather reached the pair, the young man said: "Grandfather, this is the new deacon."
The old man, being hard of hearing, replied: "A New Dealer?"
"No, grandfather, the new deacon." the grandson answered, a little louder.
"A New Dealer?"
"No, grandfather, the new deacon,"and the grandson added, "He's the son of a bishop."
"Yeah, those New Dealers, they all are."

DEM/REP/RED?

A friend, yes I have some, sent me this so I am sharing it with you:
You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you.You are carrying a Glock 40 cal, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? ______________________________________
Democrat's Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint, and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to discuss with some friends over a latte and try to come to a consensus. ______________________________________
Republican's Answer: BANG! ____________________________________________________ Redneck's Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click..... (sounds of reloading). BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!BANG! click ...
Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Hollow Points?"
Son: "You got him Pop! Can I shoot the next one?"
Wife: "You are not taking that to the Taxidermist!"
My only problem is the unnecessary expenditure of ammo, 2 to the body and 1 to the head would have been sufficient. Or as Michael Collins said,"I don't mind you killed him, but did you have to riddle him when one bullet would have done the job? Bullets are expensive."

Cries for 'Gun Bans' Have Begun

It has started with all "the usual suspects", and as usual, the cacophony has been increased by those well meaning individuals who have no understanding of history, people, sociology or weaponry. Those innocents who would ban handguns or 'assault weapons' understand the uses of neither. The handgun is a primarily a defensive weapon, best suited to close encounters when about to be overpowered. Example, a woman pulls into a convenience store at 8:00p.m. on a brightly lit street in her city of residence and her car is surrounded by a group of thugs explicitly saying what their intentions are, and she's seven months pregnant. What does she do? She picks up her husband's pistol and the entire group runs, she then drives home, no shots fired, but very frightened. Another scenario, a woman is at home with her children while her husband is working night shift. She goes to bed and is soon asleep. Her cat awakens her, she turns on the light and discovers the window brace has been knocked from the window, she grasps her husband's pistol and the man who cut her window screen trying to get in, runs away. How could this happen, they live across the street from the police department?
Fantasy? No, both incidents happened to my wife, one on the west coast and one in the south. Without a handgun available and the will to use it, what would have happened?
People, some of you don't understand. Most victims of violent crime are defenseless. You don't understand, the most heinous mass murders have been perpetrated by government upon their own disarmed populations, examples:
Turkish genocide of Armenians in WWI
Nazi genocide of Millions in WWII
Soviet genocide of 22 million over a fifty year period
Communist China genocide of unknown millions during the 'Cultural Revolution'
Communist China genocide of over 1 million Tibetans during the fifty years they have occupied that country
Khmer Rouge genocide of over 1 million in Cambodia
Rwanda Hutu genocide of Tutsi
Liberia genocide
Nigeria genocide
Need I go on? "But that can't happen here..."
Ask the Cherokee why they left their warm homes in the Smoky Mountains in the dead of winter to relocate on the barren plains of the Oklahoma Territory.
Ask the Dakota about receiving blankets for winter that had been exposed to measles and chicken pox.
Remember Wounded Knee?
More recently, the MOVE sect in Philadelphia, PA, the Weaver family in Idaho, and the Branch Davidians at Waco, TX. No, the government here wouldn't do anything like that. Jewish fathers, veterans of the German army of WWI, told their children the same thing before being sent to Auschwitz or Treblinka.
It all begins with disarmament. In Chicago, residents of government housing were restricted from keeping firearms for self defence. If you owned one and used it to protect yourself from violent attack, you would be evicted and/or prosecuted. This in violation of 2nd Amendment civil right to possess the means for self defence, and where was Jesse Jackson? Then it was announced that the police could perform 'sweeps' and could search any residence in public housing without a warrant to ensure that no one was keeping a firearm. This in violation of 4th Amendment civil right to be secure from unwarranted search and seizure, and where was Al Sharpton?
Government, like all predators, begins their attacks with the weak and defenceless then moves up the food chain. Guess who's next?

Thoughtful Opinion

Why must I press ‘one’ for English?
Larry M. Jones
Now Hear This!
I recently received an “e-mail forward” from an old Navy buddy who is a retired airline captain with far too much time on his hands. The e-mail was a beautiful color photo of the American flag proudly waving with the words printed across it, “Why do I have to press one for English?”It instantly created the intended effect on me. It made me angry. As I pondered the concept, I was reminded of the old joke about a pilot preparing to take off from an air base in Germany during the 1950s. The pilot called the tower and requested clearance for takeoff — in German. The air traffic controller came back and told him to speak in English, the international language of aviation. The pilot came back and said, “I am a German, in a German airplane, in Germany and I am flying to a destination in Germany. Why do I have to speak English?” The controller replied back in a distinctly British accent, “Because you lost the bloody war.”Are we losing, or have we lost, a bloody war here in America? If not an entire war, we seem to have suffered defeat in a few major campaigns, and this is no joking matter. Despite the fact that our “native English” has endured for centuries, we now seem willing to compromise it away. There seems to be two major factors fueling a dual language initiative, and they are essentially identical to the illegal immigration dilemma — corporate greed and political pandering for the minority vote. Where will it all end? Will we start printing our phone books in Spanish? Wait — there’s already about 10 pages in the front of the Weatherford phone book that are in Spanish. I recently saw questions posed with regard to being multi-lingual. What do you call a person who speaks two languages? Bilingual. Three languages? Trilingual. One language? American. In the United States we have always insisted that everyone learn and adopt English as the sole language of government and commerce. This requirement by our forefathers has allowed America to maintain this unifying facet to our unique nation. Over the centuries this has been a prerequisite to becoming a naturalized citizen, and millions of immigrants have complied.Today, it seems the path to citizenship is to overwhelm the nation’s infrastructure so as to require amnesty be granted to millions of illegal residents each decade or so. Signs in government buildings, particular those around social services departments, are now being posted in both Spanish and English. Hospital emergency rooms, the primary care physicians for illegal immigrants, must also have bilingual signage. Ballots are being printed in Spanish, and demands are being made for driver’s license exams to be administered in Spanish. Why do we allow our nation to be overrun by this overflow from corrupt nations to the south?A “touchy feely” attitude has become very prevalent in America. A huge segment of our populace today seems very unconcerned about protecting the concepts that have enabled our greatness. I fear this stems from never having had to work for, nor make personal sacrifice for, the overall good of our nation. The sacrifices made by those of earlier generations seem to have become increasingly insignificant to those who have only known relative affluence and pursuit of personal goals. If you didn’t have to work for your money, would you be as frugal? What scares me about this casual disregard of the American way of life is the inability to stop this trip down the primrose path to ruin. As a relatively informed and active participant in the political process, I feel my government no longer speaks for and guards the core values of mainstream Americans like myself. Statesmanship and personal accountability, like the English language, are becoming relics of a bygone era. We are rapidly pursuing a language policy almost as stupid and divisive as that of our Canadian neighbors to the north. Before long every document we have will look like assembly instructions for an “American Flyer” bicycle made in China. It takes longer to find the English section than it takes to assemble it.

Political Vultures

The political and media vultures are already circling. Descending to feed on the raw emotion of tragedy. True to their parasitic nature, they try to exploit the suffering to further their political aims. They do not care about the victims, but try to cast the criminal as a victim. The vultures try to direct the hurt, the pain, the suffering to satiate their lust for power. The American people must come together in support of the victims and their families and we must ensure that our liberties are not to fall victim as well. These young people were learning to be productive members of society with their lives ahead of them, full of hope. Then an evil person decided to end that dream for so many people. Our founding fathers dreamed of a country of opportunity and liberty. They believed in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They understood it would entail work, struggle, and failure, but they fought on and created the greatest nation on earth. Let us not allow parasites to undo what our founders fought to create and what these students and teachers died to help to perpetuate. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are not what you have when government dictates what 'freedoms' you may keep.

Mourning For Virginia Tech

At this time of senseless violence perpetrated by an evil person, we pray to our merciful GOD for comfort and peace for all who lost loved ones and for those who were wounded, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We come together as a nation offering what support we can and relying on GOD for the "peace that passeth all understanding". As GOD watched His Son die on the cross, He understands the pain of losing a child, but with the death of His Son, we have the opportunity to be reunited with our loved ones. As Jesus said to His disciples after His resurrection: "Peace be with you." Let the love of GOD sooth and comfort your mind, heart, and soul.

Thoughts On Gun Control

"Gun Control is life insurance for those Government Officials scheming to steal the rest of your Bill of Rights." SaveOurGuns.com
By disarming suspect persons, the British felt confident that the revolution would be crushed. In Boston, for example, General Gage confined the inhabitants within the town and ordered them to surrender their arms to their own magistrates (that they might be supposedly preserved for their owners) as a condition for being able to depart from the town. He then ordered his troops to seize the arms, detained the greatest part of the inhabitants despite his promise to release those who complied with his terms, and compelled the few who were able to depart to leave their most valuable effects behind.
The disarming of the populace as the precursor of tyranny is not merely a historical phenomenon. Totalitarian governments of the right and left in the twentieth century have followed Gage's example.
James Madison wrote that "the advantage of being armed" was a condition "the Americans possess over the people of almost every nation." He charged that the despots of Europe were "afraid to trust the people with arms," and envisioned a militia amounting to near half a million citizens "with arms in their hands."
"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive. "Noah Webster

Return of the prophet Fred?

To hear Republicans around the country you would think that it was the return of The Messiah. At first, whispered, then shouted: "Fred Thompson may run for president." The would be followers of a maybe messiah should, perhaps, look before their leap of faith. Not even in the race and he is already in the thick of the three stooges, Rudi, Johnny, and Mitt. But being the best of the worst is hardly a sought after accolade. And already the prophet Fred has his detractors. Some of the Talibaptists not only question his position on 'moral social' issues(read abortion) they question his Christianity.
I prefer to look into his public relationship with The Constitution rather than his personal relationship with GOD. At best the prophet Fred is a moderate as was his mentor, Howard Baker, Jr. He has voted both for and against our constitutional rights(public record, first recommended stop Gunowners of America website, then link to presidential candidates). His endorsement of the McCain-Feingold Muzzle the Voters Act, AKA The Incumbant Protection Act, is not a stellar indication of his faith in nor support of the First Amendment. If Fred were to win the Republican nomination in this tepid primary race, his choice of running mate would determine if the general election would be a good fight or a slaughter. Choosing any of the three stooges would certainly cause many conservatives to sit this one out. If he chose Duncan Hunter or Ron Paul then the stakes would be raised and a clear line would be drawn in the sand between the Constitutionalists and the anti-Constitutionalist Democrat leadership. Politicians generally do not like to take a stand so I expect a soft whimper of surrender as Republicans lay down for the Democrats in '08.

Standing Orders Rogers Rangers

Major Robert Rogers to his Rangers in 1759. More than two hundred years after Major Rogers wrote them down, they are still relevant.
1. Don't forget nothing.
2. Have your musket clean as a whistle, hatchet scoured, sixty rounds powder and ball, and be ready to march at a minute's warning.
3. When you're on the march, act the way you would if you was sneaking up on a deer. See the enemy first.
4. Tell the truth about what you see and what you do. There is an army depending on us for correct information. You can lie all you please when you tell other folks about the Rangers, but don't never lie to a Ranger or officer.
5. Don't never take a chance you don't have to.
6. When we're on the march we march single file, far enough apart so one shot can't go through two men.
7. If we strike swamps, or soft ground, we spread out abreast, so it's hard to track us.
8. When we march, we keep moving till dark, so as to give the enemy the least possible chance at us.
9. When we camp, half the party stays awake while the other half sleeps.
10. If we take prisoners, we keep 'em separate till we have had time to examine them, so they can't cook up a story between 'em.
11. Don't ever march home the same way. Take a different route so you won't be ambushed.
12. No matter whether we travel in big parties or little ones, each party has to keep a scout twenty yards ahead, twenty yards on each flank and twenty yards in the rear, so the main body can't be surprised and wiped out.
13. Every night you'll be told where to meet if surrounded by a superior force.
14. Don't sit down to eat without posting sentries.
15. Don't sleep beyond dawn. Dawn's when the French and indians attack.
16. Don't cross a river by a regular ford.
17. If somebody's trailing you, make a circle, come back onto your own tracks, and ambush the folks that aim to ambush you.
18. Don't stand up when the enemy's coming against you. Kneel down, lie down, hide behind a tree.
19. Let the enemy come till he's almost close enough to touch. Then let him have it and jump out and finish him with your hatchet.

Honoring The Flag?

According to the courts, it is legal to burn the flag of the United States as a form of free speech. According to Morristown, TN police it is illegal for an American citizen, disabled war veteran, Ted Mitchell, 61, to display the flag honorably on a flag staff. These officers felt so compelled and 'threatened' that they resorted to tasers to subdue the Korean War veteran during a protest of the government's failure to enforce the laws of the land. Specifically the immigration laws. A police spokesman stated that the plastic eagle atop the flag staff constituted a weapon. Undoubtedly it was capable of penetrating issue bullet proof vests, you know there have been so many people attacked by plastic eagles....
Following this train of thought, little league baseball players would be declared a street gang for swinging those deadly bats around in a ball park. Am I the only one who sees that something is terribly upside down? If this is the thought process,or lack thereof, of government officials, next election cycle we need to change the government. Interestingly, no government official or politician has stepped forward to defend this American citizen. Go figure.

Reconquista Uno

No doubt you have heard arguments on both sides of the illegal immigrant issue. Most Americans have made up their minds or don't care. As with most political issues in the U.S., of late, once someone has decided where they stand, it takes an act of God to change their mind. And that is not always enough. God does not force His will upon us, but that's for another time.
This then would be addressed to those who don't care in hopes that they will grasp the importance of the illegal problem and its related subjects.
First, as an American citizen and an honorably discharged veteran, I am expected to obey the laws of the land. If I violate said laws, I am subject to arrest, trial, imprisonment. If there is a disagreeable law, I go through the elected officials at the appropriate level to try to get the law changed. No guarantees. I am expected to work, pay taxes, and be a productive citizen. If I become injured or unemployed, I better have had insurance or savings to help me in this time. If my job closes and moves to Mexico, I would have to lose everything I had worked for to be eligible for any government assistance.
If I am illegally in this country, I can get on welfare, get a free education for my kids, use the emergency room for medical care(forcing the cost of health care up for everyone) all in violation of the law. I can drive without a license or insurance, I can work, break more laws, go to jail and still remain in this country, illegally. As comic Yakov Smirnoff (a LEGAL immigrant) says: "What a country!" only now the inflection has changed: "What? A country?"
I work with immigrants at two different jobs. Legal at one and illegal at the other. The legal workers are industrious, polite, and anxious to obey our laws. The illegals have become surly, lazy, and more difficult to work with. Also, one illegal I know has had SIX DUI convictions and is allowed to remain in this country. Why? He has a wife and kids 'at home', but a girlfriend ,also an illegal, here who just had an anchor baby at taxpayer and insurance premium payer expense. Now, which 'home' will they claim and which one will they stay in?

Some words need neither preface nor appendix

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Now where is PETA when you need them?

Strange how PETA chooses which animals to 'protect' and from whom....
Provision Authored by Senators Boxer and Feinstein Will Exterminate All Santa Rosa Elk and Mule Deer

Fairfax, VA – Last month, President George W. Bush signed the 2007 Defense Authorization Act, which included an NRA-supported provision saving hundreds of elk and mule deer on Santa Rosa Island from the court-ordered extermination that was to begin in 2008 and be completed by 2011.
However, yesterday, Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein attached an amendment to the Military Construction Appropriations bill that will overturn current law and exterminate hundreds of healthy elk and mule deer on Santa Rosa Island, off the coast of California. This issue is not about public access or whether these animals should be hunted and by whom. Current law protects the Santa Rosa elk and deer from extermination and this amendment will require that the animals be exterminated by 2011.
NRA-ILA Chief Lobbyist Chris W. Cox stated, “In a blatant attempt to slaughter these animals – for absolutely no good purpose – Senators Boxer and Feinstein claim to, ‘correct a terrible mistake’. The only irreversible mistake in this situation is if these elitist politicians are allowed to kill healthy and robust animals for political purposes.”
Santa Rosa Roosevelt elk and Kaibab mule deer are unique and invaluable, as they are free from Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and other ailments that threaten the species on the mainland. Forty miles of Pacific Ocean offer them a sanctuary from disease. The healthy and thriving herds can be used as breeding stock to repopulate in case of disaster on the mainland.
Cox concluded, “This is not about hunting – this is about political pandering and payback. The NRA is calling on Congress to not allow Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer to kill hundreds of healthy elk and mule deer – for no good reason.” - nra -
Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. Four million members strong, NRA continues its mission to uphold Second Amendment rights and to advocate enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.

Chris De Burgh song circa 1987

The Revolution
Wake up boys, there's a light at the window,
I can hear someone knocking on the door,
There are voices in the street,
And the sound of running feet,
And they whisper the word - "Revolution!"
There are men coming down from the valleys,
There are tall ships lying off the coast,
And they carry the light,
In the dark of the night,
Like a whisper in the wind - "Revolution!"
Bring my gun and a handful of silver,
By the sea we will gather for the fight,
It's been so many years, so many tears,
We have lost once before,
Now we'll settle the score,
When our cannons will roar - "Revolution!"
